Chainsaw Carving - Owl Keeper Totem

CA$2,000.00

This first chainsaw carving of mine is finally available!
’Owl Keeper’ is my first ever Totem Carving in a New School, Cartoon-ish way, the Wisdom in Grief, represented respectively by the Owl and the Skull.
Made of a 18” or 46cm diameter Western Red Cedar Tree that I harvested myself from our property in the Slocan Valley, BC, this sculpture is 48” or 122cm tall.

Born in Brittany, the Celtic heart of France, I come from a lineage of woodworkers, a tradition deeply embedded in my name. My passion for woodworking has taken many forms, from skateboard ramps and lutherie to log homes and milling. Recently, I have brought these skills to a purely creative outlet, venturing into the world of totem carving with a modern twist.

Inspired to merge traditional techniques with contemporary styles, my totem carvings often feature cartoon-like or new school aesthetics. This blend of old and new breathes fresh life into a time-honored art form, creating pieces that are both familiar and innovative.

Though I do not aim to make a profound statement with my totem carvings, the positive response and interest in my first two pieces have shown me that there is a deeper appreciation for this art. By owning one of my totem poles, you are not just acquiring a piece of art; you are embracing a part of my creative journey and the timeless tradition of wood carving.
